Kat Marquez Dreamscape

One of my favorite things to do is play in the woods. Last fall, my friends and I spent a lot of time in the various parks around the Lehigh Valley, and I took pictures while we were there. My dreamscape is reminiscent of Alice's wonderland, or a faerie's wood. This enchanted forest is a mystical place where things are not always what they appear to be and where anything can happen. All the pictures I used I took myself on various trips or parties. The biggest challenge was deciding how to begin and what direction I wanted to go in.

  1. this is cool, fun, and imaginitive.you must've gone on some awesome trips! the one thing that i would have spent more time on is the gentleman on the left. the image looks a little cut and pasty.

  2. I know what you mean about not knowing where to start (and where to stop sometimes too). I like your idea about things not always being what they appear. I think it might be cool if you could like maybe give the little girl wings and making her more whimsical. Or maybe try to do a sort of "where's waldo?" and hide something in the image for people to find.

  3. I like all your pictures in your dreamscape but i wish you made them all similar color hues and saturations and the same curves so it could all look more realy.

  4. I like this but you could have made it look like the people are really actually in the forest if you died down their opacity.

  5. i like it but, blend the people in more so they look like they belong.

  6. I like this and how it has personal elements. I can relate to the fact the you had trouble finding a direction. The images you added could have been edited to relate colorwise better.

  7. I like the placement of your images. I'm not sure about the middle one though..it kind of looks out of place with the rest.

  10. When ever I see pictures of woods, I get a sense of creepy lol. The first Blair Witch flick did it to me. Very cool concept and very creative. Perhaps a little more blending on some of the images.

  11. It looks good. Like everyone else said I would scale down the people so they look like they belong in the picture

  13. This is a nice image with a good background. Yet, i wish you pushed your elements that you placed in your image a bit further, they just are still looking a little to "cut an paste"

  14. This is creative and it flows together quite well, perhaps some shadowing on the additional figures would help. But overall, very nice.

Alice and Wonderland is great inspiration for a dreamscape. The woods is a good base to startout with? What is everyone doing in the woods? What is the eye movement in the woods you created? Did you put different adjustment layers on to make it look natural?

This is a good start- but there is a lot of unanswered questions that are not answered in the artist statement. You also need to work on using adjustment layers to make it look more natural.
