Frank lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright Houses

The house I pick is located in Oak Park, Chicago Illinois. When I googled Frank Wrights homes this one stood out to me because it’s simple but beautiful. The stone finish kind of reminds me of a medieval castle. This house doesn’t have any arches and I love that. I really hate houses with arches and pointy roofs.

This is a large structure and it appears to have lots of space and plenty of windows, this is a big plus in my book.

I’m sure Mr. Wright’s inspiration for this project was to create something stylish, expensive looking but simple. There’s something about the color of the house itself and around the windows that compliments each other. I also like how the outside matches the color of the house this makes the landscaping stand out more.

Walt Disney Concert Hall

Walt Disney Concert Hall

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is located in downtown Los Angeles and it seats over two thousand people. The cost of this design was nearly 300 million dollars and it was completed in 2003.

I was attracted to this building because of its space age design. It seems like the more I try to figure out what it is the more it baffles me. Maybe this was Gehry’s intention, to keep people talking and wondering.

As a sound guy I can’t help but wonder how this design stands up sound-wise. I was always taught that octagon shapes work best with sound waves but this building is not exactly an octagon. I pretty sure all the weird corners create tons of standing wave and the reflective steel finish doesn’t help.

I’m not really sure what could inspire a person to create such a building for a concert hall. It literary looks like a piece of abstract art. I think it’s genius, but I also think it a bit much for a concert hall. Seems like something as futuristic as this would be more fitting for a science museum or something along those lines.

Frank Gehry

I really like Frank Gehry’s building’s they are so creative and have life to them. This one is my favorite building of his, the Hotel Marques de Riscal. It’s so pretty and shiny which is what caught my eye immediately. It seems more like a work of art, like a statue than a building. The fact that it’s a hotel is the best part of the building. All the different colors make it so unique and wonderful. To me it looks like ribbons. I feel like that might have been his inspiration for the design. I love the ribbon candy that’s around Christmas time and that’s what the building looks like to me. The pictures that feature the inside of the hotel look amazing, I feel like it would be a real joy to stay in this hotel. I love how most of the hotel is glass, it really makes the roof pop out.

Frank Lloyd Wright

This building is so beautiful to me. I would love to live there!! Nature is so beautiful and the way the building sits right on the cliff looks like it belongs there. From inside I bet it has the best view. The colors he chose to make this building go great with the landscape. The rock chimney is my favorite because it goes so well with the rocks beneath the house. It really makes the building blend into the cliff, the roof being an extension of the rocks beneath it. The square outline of this building is so unique. The way he designed the building to have the different size squares on top of each other simulate the dimensions of the rocks below it. I think his inspiration is the cliff and waterfall itself. The way the building is made blends so well to look like part of the cliff. He designed this building with organic architecture which is such a great idea. To be apart of nature with the running water below it has such a peaceful feel. The feeling of living there makes me feel at peace. It’s almost like a hide away from the worlds problems. It’s almost hidden with the nature around it like in the first picture you almost couldn’t tell it was there.
